Innovation and change is one thing I have seen companies struggle with. Social media is becoming the wave of the future of advertisement and customer outreach. A lot of business owners are baby boomers and they did not grow up with the internet, so it is a foreign subject to them. Some companies do not get their name out in the market and they fall. The best way for a company to adapt to change and become innovated is to listen and stay up to date with modern culture. Ways a company can do that is to hire younger generations, also get more involved with the new technology. Culligan has an internet presents but it is not prominent and can use more work. Large companies used to not care if their employees where happy or getting treated well. But with more option than ever to choose where to shop company snot must worry about their reputation. People will not shop somewhere if they do not like the company and how they treat their employees. Human resources help the company. While at Culligan the human resource guy was the guy to go to if you ever needed anything he could help you. If you needed to help understanding the health insurance plan or why your paycheck was the amount that it was he could help you understand everything. Human resources is a crucial job. The more motivated someone is to work the better and harder someone will work. A company could do this through incentives, like bones once a certain quota is met or through leadership. The manger could inspire the employee to be a better person and want to work harder because it is the right thing to do. When working at Culligan I had the owner to work for one of the most inspirational men I have ever met. My manager was the first one into work ever morning and the last one to leave. He truly loves the company and that translated into his workers loving the company. In comparison working at the restaurant had no medication what so ever, no incentives, no leadership, nothing. The only reason to show up was to get a pay check. The company had extremely high turnover in employees, they had no reason to stay because they can easily find that pay somewhere else. Motivation and leadership are key to running the most effiecnt and profitable company
