Bruchy Endzweig Professor B. Harrison SPCL 7946 How do we know what children are struggling with? How do we learn the content of their inner lives and the accompanying feelings? How can we assess their capacity for change and growth- especially when working with children at different developmental levels? Chapter 1
As a future teacher, I feel that this form of practice is essential to educating our youth. Serving as an advocate of Americorps member I feel that this program would heighten my experience and knowledge of teaching.
One sweltering, stifling hot afternoon in July, I had the immense privilege of participating in Share-the-Lake Day as one of my first volunteer events being a member of the National Honor Society. Share-the-Lake Day is an annual sponsored event that offers nursing home inhabitants an outdoor lunch and a day out on the lake. I have always enjoyed spending time with elderly people because I find their wisdom and experience to be incredibly intriguing and fascinating. I loved listening to their stories of which they were extremely content to share. To see their eyes dance as they recounted a fond memory from their youth or witness their excitement when I mentioned various thoughts of mine that reminded them of a favorite family member or close
In addition to the services provided, the program offers incentives and supplemental events including laptop incentives for high school (H.S.) graduating seniors, a Transitional Age Youth (TAY) Summit, computer readiness and safety, holiday parties, an alumni foster youth event, and emotional needs support provided by JAIYA John. Through this program I will get to know more of my peers that I might not always interact with. I can gain a better a knowledge of who they are. I will best serve as a member

Summarize the central argument: Through a series of in-depth interviews Irene Bolemraad gathers enough information to argue that the process in which immigrant families decide to participate in protests (such as the 2006 immigrant right rallies) could be reversed in a way where the younger members of the household are the ones to influence the parents to mobilize. Bolemraad is able to conclude this by a model called bidirectional political socialization that demonstrate through intergenerational communication and interactions that it’s possible to influence family members to become politically engaged. Participation increases when information is gathered from these sources as well as other networks such as schools, churches work places, and
First, the lack of sources makes it hard to believe all the information they provide. Allenby and Garreau provided a large amount of information, it just would have been better to know where they gathered the information. Another reason why sources would have been helpful is because different types of audiences understand different topics. As for my age group and education level, we would have benefited from sources because we might have not understood as much as older more educated adults have. Second, the authors seem to have a biased opinion throughout the article.
Service learning is a teaching and learning strategy, which provides an enriching, opportunity for today’s youth to interact with older adults to be able to understand generational differences by way of building meaningful relationships. There are several previous intergenerational learning service studies, but none of them emphasize reflection as a crucial part of service learning. A significant amount of research focuses on the relationships forged during intergenerational service learning, in specific between older adults and high school, college, or graduate students, less is known about the effect that intergenerational service learning has on elementary school students. Fair and Delaplane, set out to expand the research in this area by
The way children grow up has been changing forever. Today’s children has had a tremendous effect from technology as well as historical events. My cohort of 1998 is completely different from one that was 20 or 30 years ago, because technology has been advancing so quickly that everything from entertainment to work life have all been influenced in some type of way. Major events in history have also played a big role, due to laws changing, wars and diseases. With the combination of technological advancements and key events in history, cohorts have differed from my generation, to my parents’ generation and even the current generation of today’s children.
A generational timeline towards millennialism today "By living through several generations, and following the news, the future of societies relationship with current affairs can never be predicted. " - Interviewee The progression of society and differing generational groups can be followed through the observation of television news and the impact it makes upon these generations. Although the first electronic television dates back to 1927, it is the development of the human race which transpired a generational mixture of television viewers. Through the continuation of generations, rapidly evolving ideas and emotions have become the metabolism of this network we call 'news'.
The purpose of my reflection and artifacts is to provide you with information about my learning skills and experience that I have gained during my studies for the Early Childhood Education program. My experience throughout the course was fun especially on my Virtual Child Assignment because it was an interesting journey. I have discovered about the development and behaviour for my child Neel. This course had a good impact both on me and my learning skills because I had the opportunity to apply my knowledge skills ages and safety, the health and safety practise which I believe is important for a child. Secondly the most important part that I found in the virtual assignment was the working step by step process about the Child’s growth hence, I learned the importance of the health and safety practises which are very important for me to work as an Early Childhood Educator.

Child’s Play, written by Higuchi Ichiyo, is a short novel centred around the growth of children, particularly those associated with the pleasure quarters. The story takes place over a few days, nevertheless, we are given an idea on the backgrounds of the three main characters, Shōta, Midori, and Nobu, and watch them gradually lose their childlike innocence. Although not explicitly stated, the last three paragraphs suggest that all three protagonists have followed the footsteps of their parents and in Midori’s case, her older sister. This essay discusses the impending tragic future of children who are destined to take after the occupations of their family.
