1. What are some of the benefits of peer-based instruction? In what way does interteaching attempt to capitalize on peer-based instruction?

Some benefits of peer-based instruction are that it encourages contact between student and instructors by making students more prepared to discuss the course content, as well as increasing the student’s chances of having questions for the instructor. Another benefit is that students are able to help their fellow students with questions that they might have. Some ways in which inter-teaching capitalizes on peer-based instruction is by enhancing the students need for cooperation by adding inter-teach sessions with probe questions each week as well as making active learning a bigger part of the student’s repertoire by requiring students to answer questions and then hold discussions within their dyad.

I think it would also be interesting to look at inter-teaching in children and if it could be beneficial for children in elementary school.

Chickering and Gamson (1987) identified seven practices that help facilitate student learning, they are encouraging contact between students and instructor, promoting cooperation among students, incorporating active learning, providing timely feedback, emphasizing time-on-task, establishing high expectations, and appreciating diversity in
