3a. Explain how students used language, vocabulary, and syntax or discourse
For lesson 1 student were required to describe and identify positive and negative space in images and logos. In video clip 1 at 0:53, I ask for what the students see in the images. The students call out answers and say what they see. They identify the space that they see in the image. Throughout the lesson, the terms positive space, negative space, and total positive space are used. The terms and definitions are also written on the worksheet that all students are given. When working on the worksheet students are also required to identify positive and negative space and write down if the image uses positive space, negative space, or total positive space. As shown in the students work samples, especially student work sample 2, the student writes if it is positive space, negative space, or total positive space. However, some students struggled with describing how space is used. Some did not

Individual or small group teaching can help these students. After teaching the lesson, meeting with small groups of students with similar needs and discussing the lesson can help students reach the learning tasks. Students in these small groups can discuss with each other and ask and answer questions together. Having students work and learn from each other may be more beneficial because some students may understand concepts better when being taught by a peer. I will also listen to the discussion to understand individual students strengths and areas of improvement so I have an idea of which areas students succeed in. The students in the MD program also need more guidance, so providing them with written directions, oral directions, and visual examples can help the students understand the material
