The tragic play Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, speaks of how two young people, even though they are from enemy families, are able to find true love within each other. But many things goes wrong along the way leading to the tragic death of our two main protagonists. If it had not been for the intervention by friends and family, maybe this story would have ended up differently.
This is shown when one of Romeo’s enemies Tybalt, decides to challenge him to a duel. Romeo being newly wedded and being his cousin declines, but his friend Mercutio calls him a coward and fights Tybalt, sadly dying. This sparks Romeo into a rage and he soon kills Tybalt, causing him to be exiled. “MERCUTIO: ‘Take me inside some house, Benvolio, or I’ll pass out. May a plague strike both your families! They’ve turned me into food for worms. I’m done for. Curse your families!’” (Shakespeare 6, III, i) This quotes states that by Mercutio dying, he “puts a curse” on both their families.
