The historical nonfiction book i read was titled “George Washington’s Secret Six” and it was written by Brian Kilmeade and Don Yaeger. The book talks about a group of spies known as the culper spy ring. The members of the culper spy ring are an excellent example of the ordinary people that risked their lives to create the world’s greatest nation. The members of the culper ring were not well known nor were they ever rewarded for their extreme courage but they played as important of a role as anyone in the founding of our nation. Washington knew as well as anyone that in order to win the war they would need to control the city of New York.
In chapters 14 and 15 of Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer becomes more than just an investigator or a narrator, he becomes a character. He tells his story of climbing the Devils Thumb, which exposes the similarities between himself and McCandless. This aids to his understanding of McCandless’s motivations, without ever meeting him, due to the parallels in their personalities and family issues. Chapter 14 is devoted to Krakauer’s story about his youthful love for mountain climbing. At age 23, he plans to do a dangerous climb on the Devil’s Thumb in Alaska alone. “

Krauker himself was once a adventure, who also faced many obstacles throught his endevers. Krauker uses Retorical Stratieges in Into The Wild to show readers that know matter the outcome of the adventure, its the lessons of perseverance and determination that is ones biggest success. Chris McCandless is seen by many as careless, naive, and reckless. Krauker however viewed Chris as brave and just being young.
Into the wild, is a book by Jon Krakauer that later got turned into a film by Sean Penn, it follows the life of Christopher McCandless, who graduated from Emory University as a top student and athlete with wealthy pushing parents. Instead of continuing his life as a working man of society and taking his offers at top law schools, he decides to ultimately completely disconnect himself from society and instead tries to find his own meaning of life in the wild. Shaun Callarman says “ I think that Chris McCandless was bright and ignorant at the same time.” and i really agree with him on that because even though he left his college a top student the way he wanted to completely disconnect himself the way he did was ignorant. Not only that In the movie it clearly shows that even though he didn't want to connect with people on his journey to alaska he did, I think that if he wouldn't have been so set on being alone and not being attached to others he wouldn't have died the way he did.

Into the Wild is a point of view experience in the travels of Chris McCandless. There is an up lose and personal encounter of all of Chris’s characteristics and decisions. Chris was very unorthodox and had a different way of taking on obstacles along his journey. He did not have many friends, always keeping to himself all through college at Emory University.
Being alone on his majestic journey, and exploring the beauty of the world, McCandless sought out pleasure with the various environments that he adored and was able to find a sense of purpose within himself. Even though Chris faced various obstacles while trying to reach his ultimate freedom, such as finding food and shelter, he managed to overcome these hindrances. His personal growth with the world and himself is strengthened, and he was pleased with the life he chose to take on. Into the Wild is a personal tale of Chris McCandless’ journey as he runs away from home to try and live in the Alaskan wilderness. The book follows the story through the eyes of the author as he investigates the mysteriousness of Chris’ life through the eyes of those he came in contact with and the journals left behind. However like every book adapted into movie there are slight differences and characterizations throughout the story that aren’t expressed deeply enough or seen in a different light. Into the Wild is no different.
Into The Wild portrays a man who went on a fatal unforgettable journey through the alaska wilderness. Chris McCandless was a man with great courage and the ability to live on his own made him more of a hero going on his fatal journey. Many would say he was foolish or not thinking right, but that is not the case. The case here is simply a man with courage wanting to fulfill is beliefs through his journey. One may ask what is courage.
Into The Wild was a tremendous story which Shaun Callarman did not have many positive things to say about Chris McCandless, the main character. He went on this adventure to find out what life is all about in his own eyes. He wanted to see how different living in the wild really was compared to society because he was not satisfied with his living arrangements and household. Shaun’s quote says that he thinks “Chris McCandless was bright and ignorant at the same time. He had no common sense, and he had no business going into Alaska with his Romantic silliness.

Through his travels, Chris carried essays by Transcendentalist philosophers Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau, suggesting that McCandless is impacted by Transcendentalist ideals. Two key tenets of Transcendentalism that clearly influenced McCandless’ choices are the value of simplicity and the importance of self-reliance.

Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer is a dramatic but also remarkable story from a young, newly graduated, college student that escaped for a long wild journey but never came back. As time passes throughout the book, the reader may notice how the main character interacts with society and nature, finally McCandless dies in the wild but even though he was struggling for survival he died happy. Some people never get out of their comfort zone, others are tired of it and retire from their comfort zone to have different experiences in life, some are good enough or some are terrible.
