Character Analysis Essay Ever be in the middle of reading an outstanding story and come across a character that is too difficult to comprehend. Recently, the eighth grade class at Deer Park Middle School were required to read a book titled Into The Wild. The main character in this excellent book is an incredibly challenging character to dissect. William Corbett, a rather handsome student at Deer Park School, decided to pursue this topic. In the end, he discovered that Christopher McCandless (the main character in the novel) can be easily described as independent, reckless, and adventurous. By dictionary definition, reckless mean: utterly unconcerned about the consequences of some action; without caution; careless. This definition defines McCandless in the most obvious ways. For example, when McCandless dashed off into the woods, not knowing how to survive in that environment. Only a careless (reckless) person would run off into the woods without the knowledge of a professional. As everyone who has successfully read this book should know, McCandless was not infact what any people would title an expert. However, he could have been more prepared to make such an incredible decision. According to the book, McCandless was equipped with books, writing and cooking utensils, a bag of rice, a knife, matches, and a low-caliber rifle. These items do not come close to the required list of tools needed to survive in the relentless Alaskan wilderness. Also, all survivalists recognize one required tool to obtain when attempting to survive in the wilderness is a map. The book clearly states that McCandless acquired a map; however, he evidently abandoned it on the dashboard of the truck that had taken him to his
