Until the year 1940, Irena Sendler was a regular Polish woman. Sendler was a nurse, a Polish social worker until the Germans forced the Jews in and around Warsaw into a barely standing neighborhood called the Warsaw Ghetto. There was little food, clothes, and medicine in the ghetto so people were dying the streets. When Irena heard about this she wanted to help. The 11 ½ feet brick walls surrounding the ghetto did not stop Irena.
An Ordinary Man Turned Hero A story of a wicked carnival and those who dare fight against its evil forces in order to stop its malicious intentions and save others from the possibilities of becoming victims. The character Charles Halloway in the story Something Wicked this Way Comes, by Ray Bradbury is a wise man who struggles with doubt within himself while also supporting those around him against the evil that comes in the form of a carnival. Firstly, Charles Halloway is a janitor who works at a library and is depicted in the story as “a man with moon-white hair [and], a man with a winter-apple face”(Bradbury 12).
When the jar filled with all of the names of the children Irena had taken out of Warsaw was discovered, she started on the difficult task of finding everyone. Many children still remembered her, the person who allowed them to live their life. A book and a play were written in order to help raise money to help people who Irena and others like her were able to help escape. This foundation has raised over $70,000 to pay for medical needs and other needs of other holocaust survivors. Not only did she allow many people to survive, she also raised money to help them.

These rescue efforts brought thousands of refugee children, the vast majority of them Jewish, to Great Britain from Nazi Germany” (Kindertransport, 1938-1940). The Kindertransport was an organized effort to save Jewish people from being persecuted in World War II. The Kindertransport was an important aspect in the Holocaust because of why children were sent away and where they ended up, how they were impacted by the Kindertransport, and the challenges they faced along the way.
And the ways they were transported to those different camps were cruel and insensitive. When they shipped the Jewish prisoners from camp to camp, they didn’t care about their health conditions. “The Hungarian police made us climb into the cars, eighty persons in each one” (22). This was their first of many ways they were transported. They shoved 80 people in a cattle car with only a couple buckets of water, and a few loaves up bread.
Have you ever heard the names, Miep Gies, Irena Sendler, and Gerda Weissmann Klein? If not, you should have because these were some of the most influential women during the Holocaust. These three women fought against the harsh Nazi Germany party to free jews, provided assistance to the many Jewish ghettos, and told their own story of being in the hands of the Nazis. Miep Gies, Irena Sendler, and Gerda Weissmann Klein were some of the most influential people of the Holocaust due to their heroic actions and achievements. Miep Gies was just one of many amazing women during the Holocaust.

Schulte, Tristen Yager/Wach 9th English 2/13/18 Moral courage of Witold Pilecki Witold Pilecki once said “A man fighting for his life can do more than he ever imagined he could”(Pilecki, Witold, The Auschwitz Volunteer: Beyond bravery, Aquila Polonica Publishing, 2012. Paperback.). Pilecki did many things I feel that fits the definition of moral courage. This all happened during WWll a depressing time in the world.
In particular, a woman from Poland named Irena Sendler impacted thousands and thousands of children's lives. Irena Sendler was a woman that played a major role in children’s lives during the Holocaust. She was raised in Otwock, Poland by her two parents. At a young age, she had always been taught to love and respect others no matter their ethnicity or the color of their skin.
Jews were taken from their houses to be sent in concentration camps. More than six million of people went inside there were women, children, and men. Elie Wiesel describes in his book Night that, “They began to walk without another glance at the abandoned streets, the dead, empty houses,the gardens, the tombstones, on everyone’s back there was a sack”(16-17). This explain, how Jews were taken of their own freedom and went to concentration camps. The poem “First they came for the Jews” by Martin Niemoller relates that, “First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew”.
With the war, Jews were hunted down in Germany like an animal, then thrown into concentration camps. These Jews were placed into one of the 20,000 concentration camps spread around the country, most separated from their families. While this was all occurring, a child named Elie Wiesel was placed in a concentration camp with his father,
The conditions in the boxcars that Jews rode into concentration camps is hard to imagine. When the nazis wanted to transport loads of Jews to concentration camps, they didn 't know how to do it, their solution was old boxcars. They took old, beat up boxcars and jammed hundreds of Jews in there with nothing to survive. This was the start of the US being involved in another war, but not soon enough. The fact that any Jewish people survived is crazy, and here 's why.

The first introduction to nuclear energy was in 1938 when German scientists Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassman, along with Lise Meitner, discovered they could split the nucleus of a uranium atom. This process was later known as fission. In 1942, Italian physicist Enrico Fermi and several other physicists made another discovery regarding nuclear fission. They discovered that the fission of a Uranium atom gave off more neutrons; which could then be split into other Uranium atoms, thus starting a self sustaining chain-reaction. This lead to the discovery of nuclear fission, the process used to obtain nuclear energy.
