The Route to Freedom The American culture has been dominated by the idea of freedom and liberty. America is considered the land of free where people can practice their own religions, traditions, and cultures, knowing that there is no unjust treatment or oppression towards people. Fundamentally, America’s freedom began with the hard work of the Continental Congress when The Declaration of Independence was crafted by Thomas Jefferson. Everyone has wanted the freedom to make their own choices in life. When making your own decisions there comes a cost as to taking responsibility for those actions. Personal independence can be very difficult at times when making the wrong choice, or it can be very rewarding when an individual is the one making the rights choices for itself. Unfortunately, not everyone in this world is capable of making choices on their own and be able to make decisions on how to live their life, and people who are able to make their own choices take that freedom for granted most of the time. There are so many things that a person can accomplish in life, with making their own choices and having that independence as a human being.
Freedom is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. The foundation of America is freedom. Freedom from Britain. However, the freedom is limited to white males who own property. When colonists started to immigrate to America, they wanted to escape from under the rule of Britain.
One of the biggest examples would be the French Revolution. Observing America’s victory was a huge motivation for the French people to revolt against the French Monarchy, even against a major military power. From this piece of evidence, the American Revolution can be seen as a very influential event. Although the American Revolution had great moments in the history of human freedom, it wasn't without flaws. The Revolution was a fight for “freedom,”, but unfairness towards minorities and women was still very much present after this fight for freedom.
In modern-day, the Founding Fathers' interpretations of freedoms are viewed as restrictive because they only applied their ideals to white land-owning men. However, these ideals were progressive for their time. The colonists gained a sense of individualism while Britain was busy at war, which later helped form their four truths. The first two ideals were that all men are equal and god gave them the right to life, liberty, and property. The last ideals claimed that it is the government's job to protect those rights through the consent of the people, and the people secured the right to change the government if they violated said rights.

The Declaration of Independence declares that all men are created equal, we have the right to be free, to live, and to be happy. For me, being free means that we have happiness and we are living. God is the creator of everything and He gave us the right to be free and to live with joy, the Declaration of Independence follows God's law and this is the most important right to me: "Liberty", because when we are free we know the meaning of justice and our equality of being human. However, in order to exercise these right, I shall argue that I have some duties and some obligations to fulfill.
On the surface it’s contradictory, but bellow that it’s not. The amount of people who identify as independent is increasing, but the amount of voters who do so isn’t. In a recent poll, 42 percent of people describe themselves as independent, 29 percent say they are Democrats, and 26 percent say they are Republicans. But what's surprising is that when you break down those independents, a lot of them lean toward one party; and in 2012, most of those independents voted for their preferred party's candidate (Nate Cohn 2012). People regularly vote with one party, but would rather call themselves independent because they like being considered an outsider to politics.
