From the six civil rights leaders, I chose Betty Friedan and Stokely Carmichael. Friedan was a feminist that believed in the right of people to decide their sex. Carmichael was a prominent organizer that wanted to build a new society where whites moved away from racism and begin to focus on other problems in the U.S. such as education, economy, and political issues. I chose them because I wanted to research on minority groups and leaders. Everyone knows the famous leaders MLK and Malcolm X. Similar to the Battle at Gettysburg, everyone knows about the Pickett's Charge but not the other battle that took place.
Calhoun was known for the strong speeches he gave on a variety of topics. He was an important figure in American history because he was a person who led to the start of the Civil War. Calhoun helped fight for women's rights. He also helped Lucretia Mott with the Women's Rights Convention. Calhoun is remembered as a defender of state's rights and slavery.
John Brown killed half of an innocent family who did not own slaves because they were pro-slavery. John Brown was an abolitionist who killed many people. John Brown also committed treason. This topic is important because John Brown started the civil war, so it is important to know about him if he was a hero or villain. John Brown was a villain because he killed innocent people, he committed treason, and he was very untrustworthy.
In history I find Andrew Jackson was a interesting character because I do not know why he is on the $20 bill. His ego makes him more a tough contender in history since no one tends to have that authoritarian feeling. The entire essay I kept
In the beginning of the book, Christopher McCandless is graduating college. Before he took his journey to Alaska, he and his family went out to eat. He excites his parents when he tells them if he has good enough grades, he can get accepted into Harvard law. After having dinner with his family, he goes back to his apartment, trashes everything he owns, and unwisely prepares for his journey. In my perspective, I believe McCandless was inconsiderate and an idiot for his actions.
His servicemen trusted him and confided in him when they might not have had anyone else to go to. Certainly, it is important to tell about Thurgood Marshall because he is the African American leader in American history and a true hero for
Between the times of the late 1920’s to the late 1930’s Australia fell into a state that we now consider the great depression unemployment rates doubled and more than 20% of Australians were unemployed. Many believed Australia had no economic future. Just as Many people lost confidence in the Australian Government. We were a nation that was falling and very quickly, Australia needed a hero and its prayers were answered, they were given something they could rely on the great Sir Donald Bradman. Donald Bradman is recognised as Australia’s biggest sporting hero, within his career he achieved everything that he could possibly achieve in the cricket.
A Hero in Disguise John Brown, some say that he is a cold blooded killer. Others say he is a hero to the nation. And he is a hero to the nation John Brown was a man who believed in his own personal beliefs. His beliefs were that every man is equal. And that slavery was wrong and he felt like he was meant to be the one to stop slavery in its tracks.
I think John Brown was a hero, because he tried to find ways to free slaves. Even though he killed people or got people killed in the process, he still was trying his best to help free slaves. Supplying the slaves with weapons was a good idea, but did not turn out they way he wanted. Everyone messes up, but he still had this plan to try and help free slaves.
Christopher Columbus found new land that Europeans had never seen before and started an age of exploration like no other, or so we thought. Columbus, a well-known sailor from Genoa, Italy, was almost always thought of to be a hero, but not everything Columbus did was all that great. A hero is someone who performs good deeds for the sake of others and not for their own benefit. He started a huge trading system where many new things such as horses, cattle, pigs, grains, citruses, and sugarcane were introduced to the Americas, and many things such as corn, potatoes, tobacco, cocoa, squash, and turkeys were brought back to Europe. After he found the Americas, there was massive colonization, and Europeans also learned new farming techniques.
I agree with you in what you said about him being the type of person who made you want to be a better person. He was very inspiring in his drive to better himself and succeed in everything he did (which was a lot). He had a very big impact on colonial America and has a continues to have an impact on life
The Constitution of the United States was written in 1787. Yet, the government it created couldn’t rule over people’s lives until one more step was taken. Each state had to vote to ratify1 , or approve of it. By 1789, eleven states had ratified the new government.
John Brown was a n extreme abolitionist who attacked a federal arsenal and tried to acquire weapons to give to slaves for a revolt. Brown 's plan did not succeed, and he was arrested and hung. Although 2 of the 3 mean failed, they were all supremely courageous I what they did or tried to do, even if it wasn 't in the best way. They gave up everything to do the right thing. Hopefully one day I can be as courageous as
John Brown is seen by some as a hero and by some as a villain. Some believe is to be hanged for treason, while others believe he shouldn’t. I don’t believe he is a hero or a villain. He fought for what he thought was right and in killing men he wasn’t doing much wrong as the Civil War killed thousands of men. He killed men without the real need to, though, and tried to start a revolt in an area that hardly had any slaves at all.
There is no need to always be in an agreement with the main character. Our opinions are developed from our own experiences and how we are were raised. Thus at times, we may not always be in an agreement with the main character. It is fine to have a different opinion. As for the opinion whether John Grady grows up, he does grow up to be tolerable of his emotions.
