Friar Lawrence is most to blame for all the deaths in Romeo and Juliet. Because of the choices that Friar Lawrence made and his negligence to Romeo and Juliet's haste, many of the characters died. When Romeo first came to the Friar and asked him to marry himself and Juliet, the Friar new that doing so would only be encouraging a hasty decision, however he acted anyway. Friar Lawrence himself even said “Wisely and slow. They stumble that run fast” (2.4.102) This shows that even though he new that marrying the young couple would be a hasty decision that would lead to tragedy, he did so anyway. Later in scene 2 before he marries them, the Friar warns “These violent delights have violent ends”(2.6.9). When Juliet comes desperately to the Friar for help in her current situation. He gives Juliet a potion that once drank, would make her seem dead. He gives her this because he knows that “rather than to marry county Paris” she would kill herself.(4.1.73) The Friar eve said himself that he knew she would be willing to do anything to avoid marrying Paris, no matter the risk. However, instead of taking time to create a smart safe plan, he hastily gives Juliet a potion that would make her seem dead. Friar Lawrence then had another Friar deliver a message to Romeo of his pan with Juliet. However the message never made it to Romeo, leading him to believe like all others, that Juliet was dead. Romeo then traveled to Verona so that he may see Juliet one last time before he kills himself. Once Romeo made his way down to the Capulet’s vault, he had a confrontation with Paris that resulted in Paris’ death, making Paris yet another death in the Friars poor decisions.
