Chapter 22: Israel explains what Ethan Allen was really doing in England during the time. Allen was a barbaric person according to Israel, who had a temper that had a heroic sense, and fought for what he thought was right. However, this leads Allen to be captured because of his doings. Then, a moment later after thinking about what happened to Allen, he heard a voice that he knew, and this voice knew who Israel was. The next moment he knew he was arrested once again and was thrown in a place with forty prisoners, one of them being Sergeant Singles, who he knew before. Then he aboard the boat in he had stayed for a while and then disguised himself to escape to London.

Chapter 23: Israel arrives 15 miles from England after escaping as a fugitive. He decided to take on the job of the brick-maker. The job of the brick-maker earns him a dollar and fifty cents each week. He then explains how these bricks were made during his job, such as the dough squeezing out of the barrel and having to also be a moulder to make such bricks. He had worked as the brick-maker for 13 long weeks. He also saw how the kiln change color, putting it on the top of the burning fire.
