In Philip Caputo’s book, “A rumor of war”, I do not believe that his trial was really fair. They basically just said this your choice for the easy way out or you can go the hard way. If Crowe, the marine who had his trial before Caputo, did not be found not guilty, I believe that Caputo’s outcome would have been different. However, it did work out in his favor as he were dropped from all charges except the last charge. How they got to this point, Caputo, in anger, went into search for two prisoners and at the time did not care if they killed them.
Yuri Kochiyama is a Japanese-American civil rights activist, and author of “Then Came the War” in which she describes her experience in the detention camps while the war goes on. December 7th, is when Kochiyama life began to change from having the bombing in Pearl Harbor to having her father taken away by the FBI. All fishing men who were close to the coast were arrested and sent into detention camps that were located in Montana, New Mexico and South Dakota. Kochiyama’s father had just gotten out of surgery before he was arrested and from all the movement he’d been doing, he begun to get sick. Erich Maria Remarque showed disillusionment in very many different ways in his book that he wrote ¨All Quiet On The Western Front. ¨ The theme of ¨All Quiet On The Western Front¨ is to never let your emotions get to you when you need to power through things and need to be strong at the moment. Paul never let his emotions get to him throughout the story. Besides at one point when he went home and saw his mother so sick she was stuck in bed, and she left all the good food that they had for when Paul came back even though Paul knew his mother and sister needed the food more than him.
Not letting your child go to college is not letting them have a chance to have a life. This relates to a girl named Heather and her father in the The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt. Heather was in a business with her father that she was forced to work in. When her family and her were sitting at the dinner table, she was talking about how she was going to college and her dad interrupted her saying that she’s not going to college and she is perfectly fine in the business that she is in not going anywhere. I don’t think that Heather’s dad has good attitude towards her.
In Howard Zinn’s speech, “The Myth of a Good War” (or “Three Holy Wars”), he talks about the misleading air surround three very brutal and devastating wars that shaped our country. As his title implies, he talks about the mythical concept of a “good” war – as designed by our government. Peter Stearns’ article, “Why Study History?” , describes the value placed in the study of history. Stearns points out the relevance of history in relation to our identity, both individually and as a whole nation.
The Bridges at Toko-Ri The Bridges at Toko-Ri was a great novel, but it hit some rough spots along the way and it was hard for me to read this book at the beginning. The author, James. Michener, throws the reader into a random spot in the Korean War with no specific date or time. The novel was particularly good once I had gotten used to the author’s style choice of writing (detailed, but After reading this book, I have a better idea of how the men that lay down their lives every day feel when they are at war or are about to carry out an important mission. People overlook soldiers in the U.S. Military, seeing them as tough and intimidating men.
The Other Side of War In The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society authors, Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows paint a story of perseverance despite the tragedy from World War II. Set in Guernsey, a small island in the English Channel, the authors weave in historical facts without slowing the pace of the novel. Through character development, interaction, humor, and numerous themes, the authors transform The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society from a slow-paced historical fiction to jocular entertainment. The protagonist, Juliet Ashton, is a young writer looking for her next article after her comedic war column Izzy Bickerstaff Goes to War.
(MIP-3) Contrary to the society's thought that what they are doing is beneficial, it ultimately demolished the society in the long run. (SIP-A)Throughout the story, the community is fighting in a war and despite many warning signs showing they are in danger, they failed to recognize it. (STEWE-1) Unlike most, Montag realizes what is going on and with concern says, “I've heard rumours; the world is starving, but we're well-fed. Is it true, the world works hard and we play?
Horrific Penalties of War Mickie Ann once said, “It’s exhausting to fight a war inside your head every single day.” These words express the fight that many soldier face daily due to the horrific scenes of battle that do not only scar them emotionally, but in one’s mind and somatically. In the first chapter, the author was detailed describing: Eversmann’s point-of-view, explanation of the “chalks”, the explanation of the Somali civil war, the poverty, the rangers, the warlords, and the illustration of Seal Team six. However, since this chapter was told from Eversmann’s view, he could have shared his thoughts and his feelings other than what is currently going on in the military service. For example, the author could describe his loneliness or isolation from his family, such as his mother or wife.

These cases raise basic constitutional issues of the utmost concern. it also calls into question the role of the military under our system of government. it involves the power of Congress to expose civilians to trial by military tribunals, under military regulations and procedures, for offenses against the United States. And thereby depriving her of trial in civilian courts, under civilian laws and procedures and with all the safeguards of the Bill of Rights. Notwithstanding, she was tried by the court-martial with-out a grand jury, the dependent alleged that she was denied a right to a jury tried and so right to have her indictment presented to a grand jury pursuant to the constitution.
To combat rape and sexual assaults, we need to acknowledge and emphasize that they do, in fact, occur quite often; they are not rare occurrences with a random guy wearing a mask. We need to learn to reach out and help victims instead of pushing them away and blaming them. In recent news, a Stanford swimmer, Brock Turner, was charged and convicted of sexually assaulting a young, college woman. They were both drinking at a college party when he assaulted her behind a dumpster while she was unconscious. The prosecutor recommended a six year sentence but the assailant was, instead, given a six month sentence with probation.

Having shown this something in a way that creates a false impression, the enemy is seduced into deceiving himself.
Awareness of sexual abuse has been progressing in America over the past few years, but even with the rising number of cases being reported, there are many people who still remain unheard. While there has been an increasing amount of victories for women for getting the justice they deserve, there are many men who experience sexual abuse and remain silent due to the fear of being judged and discriminated against. Jed Diamond, author of the article “ #Me(n) Too: Why Sexual Abuse is a Men’s Issue Not Just a Women’s Issue” writes to persuade his audience to make them realize that men can also experience these forms of abuse and should also be heard when people discuss the topic of sexual abuse victims.
