In 1347 Europe saw a large explosion in expression that would eventually evolve into many different kinds of styles and techniques and become a part of everyday life and inspire many different people. This explosion occurred first in Italy and is now known as The Italian Renaissance which was inspired by the rediscovery of Roman and Greek classic art and literature. Renaissance stands for rebirth; it was a period of cultural shift often seen as Europe coming out of the Middle (dark) ages. Both the United States and Europe had cars, railroads, and electricity. The Industrial revolution brought the increase in science and medical advances helping increase life expectancy and save lives. With these new advances with industry and changes in the government increased the need for art. Art became a way for the government and companies to advertise and get people’s attention (Mason). Art was now made into newspapers and magazines through photographs. Photography in art was a new artistic outlet that came with the new industrialization, however in the nineteenth century it was still new and many still had faults that made some shy away from it. Photography, although had a un reliable start like most technologies, made I difference in how information was used. The invention of the camera brought the desire for people to record more of their life in pictures rather than words. People began to use photography to record faces, achievements, and even possessions.
