Hole in my life is one of those books that had many cliff hangers that will get you hooked, but at the same time give you an incite on the human condition. Jack Ganto’s story was very powerful in that it teaches us that no matter how hard or tough times are there is always a bright side side to it. Initially, he was a teenager that start out fairly well in school then him and his family had to move to Puerto Rico, and he could not go to school there. Instead, what he did was help out the family. However, we see that he turns into that stereotypical guy headed down the wrong path, drinking himself into blankness. The Bacon household was the first place that Jack recognised that he was a mess. This was when he realised that his life was going to spiral down the drain, the actions he was doing was not what the Bacon’s wanted to accept anymore. They wanted to shelter their young children from him, as they would from a criminal, sex offender, and etc. His decisions to participate in hash trafficking enable him to embark down a dark, misguided path to ruin; he started with not caring about what he was doing and was actually worried for the trip, but the emotions he has turns into fear and paranoia. The guilt was always haunting him by his side and he started to mature as he began to see the consequences of his actions and decisions. His mind set then changed for the better, but through severe discipline; he was imprisoned for being a part of the drug smuggling trade. This stuck me as powerful, because we know how our actions and the choices we make can affect ourselves tremendous, but we are not likely to think of the bigger consequences that we could put ourselves
