An extraordinary case of comedic overstatement from the film is the scene where General Ripper is reclining in his seat biting on a stogie conversing with Group Leader Mandrake and disclosing to him why he requested an assault on the Soviet Union. The unforgiving lighting in this scene and the point that General Ripper is appeared at make his discourse to Mandrake appear to be verging on rousing. At that point at the very end when the group of onlookers is getting prepared for the General to smash the point home, he says "natural liquids" and all the emotional strain is discharged like the film's a whoopee pad.
