A character trait is a description of a specific characteristic of someone's personality. Some examples of character traits are caring, disrespectful, bold, smart, friendly, and pessimistic. Different texts can promote strong character traits such for instance how intelligent Hermione Granger is in Harry Potter, or how calm Charles Wallace is in A Wrinkle In Time. Next year’s sixth-graders should learn about character traits such as resilient, and confidence.

In this quote, people are being mean and threatening to him because he is a person of color and playing baseball. This shows that Jackie Robinson is showing resilience. even though people are being mean he continues therefore he is acting resilient, and so students at Silver Creek need to learn about this character trait because when you are resilient you can do tasks you wouldn't be able to do before. For example, give a controversial speech, or in Jackie Robinson's case be an inspiration. He shows this when he began to play in the big leagues and “Suppressed and repressed for so many years, they needed a victorious black man as a symbol. Rickey. Students should read about Mr. Rickey to understand the benefit of being confident. Mr. Rickey exhibits this trait in the text when “they pleaded with him to abandon the plan. His peers and fellow baseball moguls exerted all kinds of influence to get him to change his mind. Some of the press condemned him as a fool and a demagogue. But he didn’t give in.” (paragraph 9). In this quote, everyone thinks that Mr. Ricky's idea is not worth it and terrible, so they begged him to stop. This shows that Mr. Ricky is confident because he wants to believe in his idea and himself when everyone else was telling him it was an awful idea. Students at Silver Creek ought to learn about this character trait because you can never complete a test if you don’t believe in yourself about your learning pace. As a sixth-grader at SCMS, I have seen students get some of the answers wrong in trivia because the rest of their group says it's correct and they aren’t confident enough to write their answer so they just say what the group tells me. This is important because this happens to a lot of kids, and if they don't get their confidence up, their grades will go down because of them not believing in themselves about what their learning pace is and what is right for them, they could just guess the answers or not do the assignment they were asked to. Therefore, students should read about Mr. Rickey’s experiences
