Therapist met with the client for individual therapy at school. Therapist did a check in regards to symptoms, mood, thoughts, emotions, coping skills, the goals that he achieved, and behaviors since the last session. Therapist processed the client's negative thoughts. Therapist used open-ended questions to address any concerns the client may have. Therapist encouraged the client to keep motivated during the stressful time, especially when he has negative thoughts, which stats usually with negative thoughts, argue with his sisters, or with his aunt, or if he has been triggered by any internal or external thoughts.
The “Lost Generation” is the post-World War I generation. WWI eliminated traditional notions of morality, faith, justice, love and manhood. The people who experienced the war became psychologically and morally lost because they were no longer able to depend on traditional beliefs that gave life meaning. Because the people of the Lost Generation believed in nothing, their lives were empty and meaningless. Jake Barnes represents the Lost Generation because he lives an aimless and meaningless life.
In the novel, the narrator, Jake Barnes, is a World War I veteran. While out on the field of combat, he had an unfortunate accident and lost his genitals. I believe that his injury causes him to resemble a mannequin, allowing the story to portray him as not being a real man. He is treated this way by the other characters and himself.
