Certain theatrical works have detrimental effects when they get into the hands of an audience of a specific age, therefore, the rating is an important affair that the institutions should do that so that the vulnerable viewers and listeners are protected from the aftermath of these contents that have an adverse impact on their well-being. Most of the adolescents and the growing children assume that media content is ripe and worth consumption without filtration and without rating these details then this audience will want to practice what they have seen (Walsh & Gentile, 2001). For instance, the movie that is meant for the kids will have contents that are kids-friendly while those for the adults will have footages that are relevant to adulthood (Kunkel & McKinley, 2007). Therefore, per me ranting categories the consumers and at the end of the day the film industry can determine how many adults and young viewers they have so that they can ensure that their products can satisfy their customers’ needs without infringing other groups. For instance, some of the parents cannot watch the Fifty Shades of Grey with the children because of the film contains erotic footages that may not be relevant to the children. Therefore, just as censorship ranting should be conducted so that it ensures that morality and the categorical needs of the viewers are made fully. However, as much as the rating is encouraged the rating institutions should keenly analyze the content in the film before going ahead to rate it this will avoid the misjudgment from the viewers and the artists (Gentile, 2008).
