Ms. Zikoviachi was sentenced to a conditional discharge with 9 month probation, required to attend Narcotics Anonymous Meetings regularly, as well as regular meetings with a parole officer that would be assigned to her. Persuasiveness: We found the position of the defense to be the most persuasive because they used the Ms. Zikoviachi’s personal life circumstances to convince the judge that while she did in fact commit the crimes she is being accused of, her life circumstances leading up to the event caused her to be forced into the situation of stealing. We found that the Crown’s arguments were very impersonal and based completely on the crime itself and not the circumstances surrounding it.

The United States Supreme Court in the Packingham v. North Carolina first amendment case has ruled in favor of Lester Gerard Packingham. The state from now on may not bar social media access to registered sex offenders. The case’s build up dates back to 2002 when 21 year old college student Lester G. Packingham had a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl. For involvement with a minor he received a 10-12 month sentence, but having never met problems with the law, the judge required him to go on a 24 month probation and register as a sex offender. Five years had passed and in 2008 North Carolina forbid any person on the sex offender list to use any type of social media.

Anne Anderson approached Jan Schlichtmann, a personal injury lawyer, to tackle the case. From the beginning, Anne makes it clear that she does not want money, she simply wants an apology.

“The boy is five feet eight inches tall. His father was six feet two inches tall. That’s a difference of six inches. It’s a very awkward thing to stab down into the chest of someone who’s half a foot taller than you are. ”-(Juror two, 54)
When it comes to Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics, I believe that he has found a common thread in humanity in the fact that humans strive for the moderate in living virtuously. However, I would argue that the thread is varied enough to have no true worth in discerning the aspects of humanity. People have too different moralities and goals. Because Aristotle allows for these “local variations”, as Martha Nussbaum later terms in her defense of Aristotle, he is acknowledging that there cannot be an overarching analysis of humanity.

II. The Ethics of the Conflict Revenge theorist Susan Jacoby writes in her book Wild Justice: The Evolution of Revenge that the history of vengeance committed in the name of God is not a function of any one religion but of the union of religious and political power; and the Christianity preached by Jesus makes abandonment of vengeance a condition of personal salvation; but the Christianity expounded by ecclesiastical authority has made vindictiveness a condition of institutional survival . Robert Langdon recounts the crimes of the Roman Catholic Church called La Purga or The Purge, where the church branded 4 Illuminati scientists with the Cross to purge their sins, and after the branding they were murdered and their bodies were dropped in
Fuming mad, mostly at her own self because of what had taken place, Allie stormed across the front yard of Colonel Andrew’s stately manor. She saw Jeanette coming toward her, but ignored her. She saw the hurt in Jeanette’s eyes, at being shunned, but she would worry about that later- she had enough of her own problems to consider; she was not going to take on someone else’s misery; she simply could not do it, not right then. Although his legs were longer than hers were, Eli practically had to run to keep up with her as she reached the street.
