JM Smucker's has a long corporate history stemming back to the late 19th century. John Chapman, or “Johnny Appleseed,” would have never imagined that his little apple field in the Ohio countryside would secure a place in American history (JMS company 2015). The distribution of the products started with Jerome Monroe Smucker who pressed cider at a mill he opened in 1897, preparing apple butter and selling it from his automobile and paid increasing dividends for 16 consecutive years. By the early 20th century, J.M. Smucker’s name became popular and a hit throughout the region and eventually the nation, associating the Smucker’s name with extraordinary fruit products. These products have been on the market for more than a hundred years expanding tremendously and creating a sustainable company. J.M. JMS’s balance sheet as at the end of 2015 indicates an asset turnover ratio of 0.5M and debt to equity ratio of 0.84M (JMS annual reports 2015). Whereas, JMS’s revenue was 5.69 B and operating cash flow was 733.2M for the same period. According to JMS’ Annual report (2015) the strategic long-term growth objectives are to increase net sales by 6 percent and earnings per share, measured on a non-GAAP basis, by greater than 8 percent annually on average. Although the net sales contribution from acquisitions will fluctuate from year to year, it is expected due to the previous growth pattern of the company that the organic growth, including new products, will add 3 to 4 percent per year and acquisitions to contribute the remainder over the long term (Altman
