The novel had many prodigious poems; the most notable being his heart-filled ode I Am Offering This Poem. Throughout this explication, I will interpret the meaning of his work I Am Offering This Poem.
1. How many people migrated to American cities in the years from 1870-1920? Answer: Thirty-six million people: eleven from the countryside, twenty-five from foreign nations. 2.
America has always been a very generous country when it has come to the topic of immigration, accepting more immigrants than any other nations in history. Due to all the opportunity and freedom, the U.S. is a hotspot for people searching for new lives. The U.S. has land and capital and all that is needed are workers, and the immigrants fill these spots by becoming farmers, miners, hunters, and other jobs. Immigration has made development in America possible and has helped shape society and culture. In the late 1800s, a tremendous surge of nearly 12 million immigrants came into the U.S., advancing our workforce, economy, and culture; if it weren’t for these immigrants and their impacts, America would not have achieved the power and success that it has today.
We need the immigrants to improve our country. Immigrants are frequently more diligent, increase the amount of businesses available, and have added a significant number of people to the military in America. Several of the immigrants who travel to America have more intelligence than Americans. The US naturalization test showed that more Immigrants passed the test
During the late 19th century and early 20th century there were many rumors that America was the “land of opportunity”. Millions of people emigrated from Europe and Asia to America. However, the Chinese were banned from entering the country in 1882 due to the Chinese Exclusion Act. There was a difference between the old immigrants and the new immigrants. Old immigrants came from northern or western Europe, they assimilated quickly, they were Protestant, and they arrived with some money.
Immigration reform has been a big issue for our country in recent years. Many U.S. citizens claim that immigration is harmful to the US economy. In just 20 years, we have seen the average number of immigrants per year jump a staggering 20%. This has lead to the biased opinions we see towards immigration today. Currently, our country is not receiving any benefit from immigration.
Immigration in America is nothing new and it has had an impact on society for many years. People from all over come to America for a fresh start and to get away from any problems. You can’t really blame them for wanting to get away from where ever and wanting to start over. As George Takei talks about his experience as a Japanese-American and his view of the American Dream. Immigrants have many differences while in America.
I believe that many of the people that come to America are just trying of get away from the bad governments that are in place of their country. May of the immigrants are just trying to be in a safe place to start a family and have good pay. But many people believe the negative stereotypes that have been misunderstood by people who are racist or “white power”. “People did not really care if i was a immigrant or spoke a different language…”(Julio C. Orozco). Julio did not experience much negative due to the fact that he was raised in a Mexican town that was mostly Mexican immigrants.
According to a study released last year by the Pew Hispanic Center, as of 2008, 11.9 million illegal immigrants lived in the United States, more than triple the 3.5 million who lived in the country in 1990 (Izumi). Immigration throughout the years has become a major issue in the U.S because of too many immigrants entering the country year after year. The U.S has come to a point whether they should deport the immigrants back to their country. Believe it or not, these immigrants are a big contribution to the U.S. If it wasn’t for them, the U.S economy wouldn’t be where it stands now.
America is now reaching its maximum capacity. Most Americans are having a harder time than ever to get a job because of the increasing population everyday. Many may say that the higher competition for the job, the better person is going to take it and do better with it. The governments goals is to focus on their people first not the others. When the government can’t even employ their people, why would they let immigrants take their spots so that the Americans can’t get a job?
First of all, Immigrants have had several negative impacts on American society. For one thing, the immigrants took jobs from people who born here. For example, one of my father’s friends have motel in Chicago. He had to fire his old staff who was used to do housekeeping work at that motel, but now he fired them and put his relative in place of them just come to US last mother.
It is part of human nature to strive to go further, achieve more and become a better person. Many people nowadays decide to leave their country in search for a better life in order to provide positive changes for their future, and that is the main reason as to why people migrate. Reasons for immigration can include lack of educational opportunities, the standard of living is not being high enough, or the low value of wages. Immigration has become a major part of life in the 20th century, and many people see America as the land of freedom, countless opportunities and thus they choose to migrate to the United States whether as naturalized citizens, legal permanent residents, refugees, international students, or even undocumented immigrants. The
“Illegal immigration continues to be a major problem in the United States. We have people wanting to come here legally and we should not be rewarding people who have come here illegally,” said John Barrasso. The United States Government should not allow immigrants into America because they are having negative effects on our country. Some negative effects are citizens competing with illegals for jobs, immigrants expecting favors, and Americans not getting to work hard for their money.
Immigrants only leave their native countries for a reasons like; a lack of local access to resources, a desire for economic prosperity, family re-unification, escape from prejudice, conflict or natural disaster, or simply the wish to change one 's surroundings. Every year the United States has more & more immigrants come over to stay for good or just for a little while. They come from all over the world & some even come just because they want to come. They have no reason sometimes but most reason always be because of a family or too much going on in their old country. Immigrants sometimes don’t have the chances & stuff that they can get from coming to the United States then in their own country.
Immigration has always been a crucial topic in the United States government. Especially when it comes to giving amnesty and passing an immigration reform to 11 million immigrants, that live in the country. Many citizens believe that immigrants are detrimental to the well-being of the United States and do not agree with the passage of an immigration reform. One reason is that many believe immigrants take away the jobs of American citizens. Other reasons are that immigrants bring crime to the country and affect the economy.
