Jinxy Jenkins and Lucky Lou Say Goodbye To Bad Luck, And Hello To A Fresh New Start Jinxy Jenkins and Lucky Lou is a lovely animated story, depicting how all it takes is a little motivation to turn a bad day into a good one. The story begins with the screen divided into two halves. On the left half of the screen is a house with the number thirteen on top of it. As soon as Jenkins walks outside, he is seen wearing a helmet. Normally, people wear helmets when they go for a nice bike ride, so it seemed out of the ordinary that he was wearing one for no reason. However, it soon began to make sense when the number thirteen fell from above his door frame, and smacked him on the head. The number itself foreshadows that bad luck is a prominent part of this short film, because of Friday the thirteenth. It then started to downpour as Jenkins stood outside. As soon as he opens his umbrella, the wind begins to drag him down the street. He then gets blown past a bunch of mirrors, which begin to crack after he passes by them. The parallel editing throughout this animation is a wonderful substitute for dialogue, since there are no words exchanged during the entire short film. After Jenkins is shown, the scene cuts back to Lou. As she walks past three slot machines, they all land on the number seven. Eventually, they both got distracted. Lou was running from two birds carrying a flower necklace, and Jenkins got knocked forward by a ladder, which also knocked his helmet onto his face. Both characters bumped into each other, and when Lou stuck her hand out, Jenkins shook his head, got up, and ran away. This is a real life version of the phrase “Opposites attract.” Two people may not have anything in common, yet there’s still a world of attraction between them.
