The Impact of J.K Rowling “I don't think about who the audience is for my books,” this quote by J.K. Rowling shows that she writes for everyone not just to appeal to a certain group. In doing this people who have very different opinions on other things may have the same viewpoint on one of J.K. Rowlings’ works. J.K. Rowling is an inspiring author whose books brought joy to many. She has made some amazing accomplishments in her life as a writer, for example Rowling went from being unemployed and living on state benefits to becoming a multi-millionaire in five years. Rowling has wrote a total of seven books in the Harry Potter series and one new book called The Casual Vacancy. The Harry Potter series is very well-known and very well-liked. Rowling has lived a "rags to riches" life story, in which she progressed from living on state benefits to multi-millionaire status within five years. J. K. Rowling has captivated people around the world with her "Harry Potter" books. J.K. Rowlings passion of writing has changed her “rags to riches” lifestyle into a better lifestyle for herself and kids. She had the idea for the Harry Potter series while on a delayed train from Manchester to London in 1990, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, was published in 1997. There were six sequels that followed. Her most famous work, which can be inferred, is the Harry Potter series. This was known as her most famous work because of all the different ages that could connect with the book series, both children and adults. For example the book series was described as every kid's fantasy,and their escape from the real world to a fictional one. The plot of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001) is that Voldemort has killed Mr. and Mrs. Potter and tried unsuccessfully to kill their baby son, Harry. Dumbledore leaves Harry with an explanatory note in a basket in front of the Dursley home. Some of the themes in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone include the value of humility, the necessity of rebellion, and the dangers of desire. Although Harry potter is the most well known series from J.K Rowling it is not Rowling’s only work. Her next book is called The Casual Vacancy. This book, unlike the harry potter series, is targeted for an adult audience. Kevin Genovario describes the plot as a small town called Pagford that reveals a town at war when an empty seat on the town council becomes available and is the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet to see. This novel is known as Rowling’s first adult book. In this novel Rowling incorporates her life as a single mom and the struggles she indoors, which is why the book is for a more mature audience. The mood is scandalous The story is very political and themes of social class, drugs, and teen sexuality are present. Main characters include a pompous chairman, a prostitute, a heroine addict, and bratty teenagers as Genovario states in his article.
