Commodification is known as the transformation of goods and services or things that may not normally be regarded as goods or services into a commodity. What makes anything a commodity is the possibility of trading it for profit. But what happens when this transfers into Health care? Taking such a highly valued occupation that is almost so sacred and turning it into a business and industrializing it will only bring negative results. It affects not only the physicians job but as well as the patient care and adds more of a strain on patient to physician relationships, even as well as physician to physician relationships.

The Australian of the Year award is a significant award ceremony to give recognition to those in the nation that have made notable contributions to communities and individuals alike. The award ceremony recognises cultures, human equality, certain organisations, and involvement in communities.
During a time of racism and segregation Rebecca Lee Crumpler doubted many people by becoming one of the first African American woman physician. Her journey to become a physician was challenging as she was doubted, had no support from her peers but she was determined to prove people wrong. At a young age, Crumpler faced many doubters, as many black females either became slaves or housewives; she followed her aunt’s footsteps and began to study medicine. During her time in medical school she was faced with many challenges by her follow peers, racism and hypercritical attitudes from her peers made her determined to look pass their judgment and pursue her dream of becoming a doctor, “the prejudice that prevented African Americans from pursuing careers in medicine to become the first African American woman in the United States to earn an M.D. degree" ("Changing the Face of Medicine | Rebecca Lee Crumpler."). She faced challenges head on and did not fail to prove people wrong, "It was a significant achievement at the time because she was in the first generation of women of color to break into medical school, fight racism and sexism" (Gray).
One last community that has historically been exploited for medical research and experiences mistrust towards the medical community is black individuals. Throughout the 19th century, slavery was rampant in the United States and while black individuals were exploited for labor they were also exploited for medical research. One man in particular, J. Marion Sims, specifically exploited black enslaved women to further his gynecological research. Enslaved women were the choice of study for Sims because they were socially seen as inferior at the time and their fertility was of great importance to the slave owners. In one case study, a woman named Mary had concerns that she was not conceiving and was simply told that uterine diseases were just common among black women.

In some instances, he revamped some programs to ensure compliance while resulting in better completion rates for the program and the college as well. Steven ultimate goal is for each student enrolling in a class completes the program, and become a productive member of the students chosen field. More people, and more churches take notice of Tebow’s community service work everyday. Tebow caught the eyes of one particular church in Oklahoma City that wanted to partner with Tebow’s own organization. The church decided to host this event after learning from the “Tim Tebow foundation” how important this event was for the children. The church has had numerous volunteers willing to help, all because of what the cause is for. The church is basing this all off Tebow’s past and present sacrifices to the community, and people who need assistance for a better future.
The first time I noticed Mike Newton, I was at the campus dining hall completing my community service. Miss Porter’s School required all students to do ten hours of volunteer work each week. According to the program director, Mr. Banner, it gave us the opportunity not only to prepare for college but also, experience firsthand the joy and sense of purpose that comes from serving others. I had undoubtedly won the placement lottery and been given the prestigious job of kitchen duty at our school’s cafeteria. Ten hours each week, I scrubbed tables, filled salt shakers, helped take inventory, and completed any other menial tasks that needed doing.
