John F. Kennedy was the 35th president of the United States, elected in 1960. He was assassinated on November 22, 1963, while riding in a motorcade in Dallas, Texas. Still today, historians continue to rank him among the best-loved presidents in American history. As president, Kennedy faced many foreign crises, especially in Cuba and Berlin. With that being said, he still managed to secure such achievements as the Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty and the Alliance for Progress. He made a huge impact in the world and that is why he should be the MVP. Kennedy grew up in a wealthy and prominent Irish Catholic Boston family. Along with that, he was frequently getting ill and was on the brink of death, at this time in his life. The first thing that really showed Kennedys potential is when he researched and wrote senior thesis on why Britain was so unprepared to fight Germany in World War II, The paper was so well- received that when Kennedy graduated in 1940, it was published as a book. This was called Why England Slept, selling for more than 80,000 copies. Kennedy joined the U.S. Navy and was assigned to command a patrol torpedo boat in the South Pacific. In August, his boat was rammed by a Japanese warship and split in two. Two sailors died and Kennedy badly injured his back, He hauled ahurt sailor by the strap of his life vest. Kennedy also even led the survivors to a nearby island, where they were rescued six days later. From this, JFK won the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for "extremely heroic conduct" and a Purple Heart for the injuries he suffered. He still manages to help others, when he was in pain himself, which shows he is the true mvp. When JFK was 29 years old, he decided to run for the U.S. House of Representatives from a working class district of Boston. Kennedy actually won the election, thanks to his father's money
