This journal examines John Knox’s History of the Reformation. It provides readers with insight regarding what Knox believed his position within the reformation was and what it meant. The journal also compares Knox to the Scottish historians, William Robertson and David Hume, and their accounts of the events of the Reformation. In all, the purpose and the events of the Scottish reformation are examined at different period of time, which was during the Scottish Enlightenment. One of the political stresses during the Enlightenment period was the change in belief in the authority of the monarchy and influence of religion in politics. The article allowed me to view the actions of Knox from a different perspective, which is that of the Enlightenment.
