John Locke Philosophy

When I think about human beings I agree with John Locke’s philosophy. When humans are first born, we are born defenseless. We are born naturally good because of the innocence we carry as a child. When we are so naive and so young we have no reason to be mean or evil. You see, overtime the things that are around us are the things that affect what we feel and how we act to one another as we grow and are exposed to more and more evil. Human nature is naturally good but, it tends to shrink due to the type of experiences one has been through and can become replaced with bad. I don’t think that makes people naturally evil.

I think that responses to natural disasters says it all. Examples include Hurricane Katrina, the Joplin Tornado, or even Hurricane Sandy. Instead of angry mobs try to steal everything and anything that they could find, humans come together in times of crisis to help each other out. Natural disasters are an extreme example. The study showed the ability that humans have that allows us to relate to people who we value and are important to us. This is why we behave the way we do. Many researchers also believed that this study explains why people in general do things as simple as donate money or take part in memorials after terrible events happen in our world. The study showed how all humans go through a process called vicarious trauma which makes us feel real pain, suffering and agony for someone when they may be going through a tough time in their life. This process in all our minds also is the reason that we get inspired to take action and help in any way that we can.
