natural world and builds up his own morality. In my opinion, children need to go through stages of moral development. Not every child can learn naturally, they still can‟t differentiate between right or wrong and how to make the right choice. Teachers and parents still need to give guidance. So, I agree on Locke‟s views.

Besides that, Locke believes that there are fundamental qualities that children have such as curiosity, liberty, pride, confidence and others. Locke advises parents to find out their hidden inclinations that the child have. It is a great opportunity for them to understand their child‟s distinctive inclinations. Locke describes the different types of associations are like repetition, imitation, rewards and punishment. He proposes that parents use softer ways of shame and commendation towards pride and reason. Locke explains that the parents need to praise their children in front of others. Meanwhile, he recommends rebuking a child in private. From this dichotomy of praise and blame, a child will gain a liking and a hatred of vice. In addition, children learn everything starts on imitation from adults. Locke also proposes the training of children through practice. This theory of development is totally different from Rousseau‟s view. Rousseau‟s theory is depicting theses ages as sort of simple thinkers and they are capable of doing real life tasks such as farming or doing the work of adults. So, the children are limited in their verbal matters. Rousseau believes that once the child reaches adolescence, they will reach their full potential through associations and environment. I believe that my theories of teaching are similar to John Locke‟s and Rousseau‟s theories. My lower grade children always imitate and repeat almost every word I talk in class. I believe these children will do the same things at home. I also believe in the reward and punishment system. It is very important in teaching. Students will alert when we give rewards or punishment for them. Besides that, I never use John Locke‟s theory for my upper grade students. I will use Rousseau‟s theory. I always give them some real life tasks to finish it. They are having fun when they try to finish the tasks on time. I ask them to fly kites, farming, rearing fish and others.
