Was John Nobles Rehabilitated? There are a few things to consider when it comes to whether or not someone has been rehabilitated. It could be for drugs, alcohol, or even murder. In this case, it’s for all three. John Wayne Nobles did his terrible acts in 1986 murdering two woman and nearly another man. He knew he was going to prison and what he had done was wrong but that didn’t stop him from alienating all of the guards and most of the inmates. But sooner than later people had noticed he started to change for the better. He became interested in Catholicism and joined the Dominican Order of Preachers standing as a godfather and encouraging other people to change for the better as well. So his transformation from not wanting to have to do with anyone in the prison and then makes friends with them all was a big change. John was so friendly that when one of the women who worked at the prison saw a friend of Johns, Steve Earle, outside the prison it was a surprise and they visited about how John was nice. John gradually made a great impression for himself and before no time he was friends with nearly everyone in the facility. It wasn’t hard for him to get around when he quickly became a preacher. He didn’t want anyone to feel bad for him dying and wanted everyone at peace when he left. When talking to Steve Earle he told him, “But if you need to cry, it’s alright, go ahead and cry.” I think it was more for Earle’s sake considering they had known each other for years. And when it came down to Earle forgetting a little paper John had given to him of his daughter’s phone number, John told him not to worry about it and that Earle had already done so much for him. He appreciated the effort Earle put in even when he forgot. Last but not least is how heartfelt John was when he was apologizing to Mitzi Nalley’s mother. Being the last thing he said to her before he died, “I know some of you won’t believe me, but I am truly sorry for what I’ve done. I wish that I could undo what happened back then but I can’t.” Also, “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I wish I couldn’t bring her back to you. And Ron…I took so much from you. I know you probably don’t want my love, but you have it.” And the last thing he sang before he had the wind pushed out of his lungs was “Silent Night”, and that was only because his mother used to sing it to him before
