There are times when a writer comes onto the scene and takes the literary world by storm. These types of people capture audience’s attentions and move them with their words along with their unique style. John Steinbeck is no exception and his mastery of description and world building has lasted long after his death. His stories are timeless and can be brought into any era to be used for so many different purposes. Though his stories have become quite known now, there was not always a lot of congratulations going around when he initially started publishing his works. He himself was influence mainly by Le Morte d’Arthur which were a collection of stories by Sir Thomas Malory plus stories by Faulkner, Robert Burns, and Sherwood Anderson (Encyclopedia of World). Malory’s book of stories pushed Steinbeck, then a teenager, to pursue his love of writing and to let nothing stop him. This piece also shaped the way he presented his own characters as King Arthur could very well have been a real person battling real enemies. This translated well for Steinbeck and he was able to showcase his own brand of real blurring into fictional territory. After all this the legacy that he has left behind has brought many others into the fold of writing. There have been no real authors that seem to scream that they took a keen observation to Steinbeck’s writing and used it to full their own, but there are surely plenty of writers now who have taken a page or two out of John Steinbeck’s play …show more content…

He had so much experience within his lifetime that he had endless sources for his writings and topics to cover. All of it culminated in a legacy of modern thinking and left everyone with the idea of putting everything out there, to not be afraid to cover the tough topics. Steinbeck spent his time building worlds based off real world problems and events. This led him to create some of the more eloquent stories on pressing matters around the globe. He has been awarded prestigious honors and awards for his forward thinking plus he has racked up an impressive array of literature for future generations to enjoy. From humble beginnings to the top of the literary and, sometimes, political worlds John Steinbeck’s works have and will continue to persist throughout time because of their messages and timeless
