Not entire public’s reaction was negative. In the following weeks since his protest Kaepernick’s jersey #7 became the most selling jersey on the NFL website. When this was revealed Kaepernick declared that he will donate the proceeds to help further his message. During his games, enthusiasts in the stands held up a sign stating “Thank you Kaepernick”. Kaepernick also received support from people in and out the same sport. Fellow football player Jelani Jenkins, Arian Foster, Michael Thomas, and Kenny Stills knelt during the anthem to upkeep Kaepernick’s message. Marcus Peters did his own take on the demonstration. Peters did a similar pose as John Carlos and Tommie Smith when they were in the 1968 Olympics. During the 1968 Olympics John Carlos and Tommie Smith raised a gloved fist to protect against injustice in this country that is still ongoing today. Not all the athletes that joining in on Kaepernick’s protest are professional athletes. Rauch’s thesis correlates with Kaepernick main idea of his protest. Kaepernick is trying bring arise to this social issue involving police brutality and Black Live Matter Campaign. Kaepernick is aware that just kneeling during will not will not eliminate the social issues that his opposed to. Just as Rauch explains that prejudice is hard to eradicate by anyone.
