Even though Johnny Cash’s legacy is full of fame and fortune, he struggled with a drug and alcohol addiction for much of his career. A.J. Samuels, a writer for theculturetrip.com, claims that as Johnny Cash’s fame rose, so did his dependency on alcohol and amphetamines, which he started taking so he would be able to stay awake during his tours. Because of this, his performances would be extremely errotic, to the point where he would be stumbling and smashing things on stage.
