The Character Johnny is courageous because he helped his friends out through all the hard times. While Johnny and Ponyboy were in Windrixville, Johnny took care of Ponyboy throughout their whole experience. Like in the quote, “I’m sure. It isn’t fair for Ponyboy to have to stay up in that church with Darry and Soda worryin’ about him all the time.” Johnny was afraid that Darry and Soda would be too upset for him and Ponyboy leaving.
