Today I read “20 years later, JonBenet Ramsey murder remains unsolved. Why?” which was about the evidence that has been found in the past 20 years about the murder of 6- year old JonBenet, and why the case is still unsolved. Authorities today have acknowledged early mistakes made in the investigation by the Boulder County police on the day of the murder. For example, Boulder police Detective Linda Arndt (the first investigator to arrive at the Ramseys’ home) initially failed to treat it as a crime scene. For hours that morning, numerous neighbors and friends walked freely through the house, before the house had even been searched by police. After finding his daughter's body John took it upon himself to remove the duct tape from JonBenet’s mouth and carry her upstairs. Because state officials and others did not take this crime scene very seriously and an abundance important evidence had been tampered with, they did not have a solid investigation. Nina Grawal states “police didn't formally interview JonBenet's parents until four months after her death. Arndt reportedly gave Patsy Ramsey's lawyer a photocopy of the handwritten ransom note around the same time that Patsy was being asked to provide handwriting samples by other officers.” This indicates that Patsy and John Ramsey were originally never seriously considered as potential suspects while the investigation was still taking place. With the advanced technology we have today, authorities are almost certain that John and Patsy Ramsey had something to do with their daughters murder. According to a video statement made by police Chief Greg Testa, “Boulder police processed more than 1,500 pieces of evidence and interviewed more than 1,000 people in connection with the case and still, the evidence has been insufficient and inconclusive.” I believe that the evidence is quite clear and that the police failed to interview everyone they should have at the time of the
