Rick Famuyiwa's Dope is an irreverent coming of age film that thrives on bending and breaking stereotypes about blackness. As the film follows Malcolm, a geeky black kid from a rough neighborhood who aspires to study at Harvard, a series of unexpected events involving drug trafficking unravels, thus complicating Malcolm’s future. This whirlwind of events starts when Malcolm, Jib, and Diggy try to sneak into the club for Dom's party. This scene is not only the catalyst for the film's conflict, but Famuyiwa also uses it to introduce to several major themes and motifs key to the film.

Totally agree with you Scott eventhought at the beginning he didn 't sound that insane, cause for example sometimes others people have eyes, body parts , etc, that bothers us just to even look at. The song I choose to analyze as poetry is J. Cole’s song “Hold It Down”. This song is from his mixtape The Warm Up, which is my favorite mixtape by him. This song is produced and written by J. Cole whose real name is Jermaine Lamarr Cole. He produces his own songs and writes them himself, which is one of the reasons why he is my favorite rapper. Whenever I am having a bad day, I always find myself listening to this song.
When employees see they are valuable to the company and they are secure it gives them confidence and in return they give their loyalty to the
Don’t Wait (Joey Graceffa) has a lot of meaning behind it. For example, in the song he said, “I’ll be your compass so you’ll never feel alone” This is a metaphor because he can’t literally be someone 's compass. This metaphor shows that Joey Graceffa can help guide his boyfriend through life and the difficulties of being able to love anyone. In this particular instance this song is talking about being gay because this was Joey Graceffa’s coming out video.

My considered response is on the poem, “Did I Miss Anything?” by Tom Wayman. This poem is about a teacher that is answering the question, “did I miss anything”. The teacher does answer the question; however they do it in a roundabout, overly sarcastic and exaggerated manner. The teacher shifts from saying they did nothing while the student was absent to saying that they did everything in the next stanza. In my considered response I will explain the poetic devices I found in the poem.
The Eighty Yard Run by Irwin Shaw is about two main characters, Christian Darling who it a college running back who plays at Midwestern University and his girlfriend Louise Tucker, who also goes to the same college. This short story starts with a description of a run that was made during a practice but he is recreating it in his mind to make it seem like it was in a game. He is recreating the entire play 15 years later while sitting on the same practice field that it had originally happened. In this story Christian wants to go back to time where everything was a simple as just playing football, being with his girlfriend, and going to school. Irwin Shaw seems to portray that you should not but all your eggs into one basket like Christian does with football.
