Book of Joshua
The book of Joshua is the sixth book of the Old Testament and, is written as a historical narrative. Some parts of the book appear to be written by Joshua himself Joshua (8:32) but, the passage of his death (24:29-31) was written by someone else. The book of Joshua was probably written around 1400 B.C. The beginning of the book describes God telling Joshua of his “servant” Moses ‘death and entrusting instructing Joshua with leading Gods people and delivering the promised land (1:1-9). It then details Joshua’s campaign as he crosses the river Jordan while it is at flood levels and invades the lands of Cannan. The next few chapters six through eight show Joshua’s successful battles Jericho, Ai and, Hazor. The middle chapters focus on the promised land being delivered by god especially the inheritance of Judah. The promised land is also referenced in Exodus (3:8)

It was some time after his father’s death that God called upon Abraham to move to Canaan. It was after Abrahams return to Palestine that God spoke to Abraham and promised that is offspring would be plentiful and, that they would one day inherit the land from “the brook of Egypt to Euphrates river” Gen (15:18). At the age of one hundred Abraham fathered a son Isaac with his wife Sarah. The most well-known story about Abraham was when God demanded that Abraham sacrifice his son Isaac for him but, before he could complete the sacrifice God spoke to Abraham and spared Isaac as a reward for Abrahams faith and devotion to Gods word Gen (22:12). His wife Sarah died and Abraham later remarried. In Abrahams old age he continued to have many children up until his death at one hundred and
