Also, she is very hard worker and flexible. Ms. Dolores Rocio helped to the Teacher caring children while they took their lunch time. She works Monday to Friday since 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.
She spends many hours tutoring her peers and helping Spanish speaking students to help improve their content skills and English. She has spent time at the Boys and Girls Club and at Centennial BOCES tutoring and translating. Many young people in our community have benefited from her willingness to give back. She has great understanding, especially for a high school student, how much change can happen if we all help each other.
In this essay, I will attempt to apply various concepts of leadership that we have covered through the course of this class by reflecting upon my academic commitment as a student, and developing my leadership style related to the results that I am attaining while I am at this University. At the end of this academic year, I hope to have passed all my registered courses with a grade point average of 3.0. Passing all my courses will mean that I will be a few steps away from completing my program and that in itself brings a sense of achievement and pride in myself. The course cases exemplify intended cultural changes, implemented of leaders for example M&A projects, like BRL Hardy, or switching from a traditional hierarchical oriented to a modern, low-hierarchical culture such as the Semco case (Bartlett, 2003; Maddux, 2014). The leader, mostly a charismatic person who is primarily positioned at the top management, represents the main creator within this cultural change program. Many concepts and models exist portraying personal traits, approaches and tools of how to reach this almost holy, idealistic representation of this privileged position. Leadership roles shall switch between being a pastor, preacher or pedagogue (Sveningsson & Alvesson, 2015). I would like to start with a quote “Not all Leaders are Managers and not all Managers are Leaders”. A number of questions come to my mind when I think of Leadership – ‘Can Leadership be taught?’ ‘Is Leadership an innate behaviour that one possesses?’ ‘How important is Leadership when it comes to educational leadership and management?’
Most importantly, since the contents of this course are largely different from what I have learned in my major courses. I regard this as a rare opportunity for me to take on some new challenges, and I would like to take a chance to develop my leadership skills. Before attending this course, “leadership” is a word quite far away from me, and I only have some basic understandings of it. And I found out that most of my thoughts I had about leadership are very different from what it really is.
