Leadership is an action that understanding yourself, building trust between co-worker, and taking effective action to implement own leadership potential. (Warren Bennis, 2016) The skills and attributes that apply on leadership is an attitude that used for determines whether the job could do well. Some of the skills and attribute that shows are related to the ‘Big Five’ in Traits Theories of Leadership. There are several examples of skills and attributes for leadership needed for a lecturer.
As a lecturer, the main skills that need to have are enthusiastic about teaching and learning. Being a lecturer should always energetic participate themselves in the teaching activity to improve their techniques being more and more progressive. Those students are not just looking for the short answer and also some relevant example. The question that asked may drive whole lesson plan from which all students will gain the benefit from the lecturer. Thus, lecturer should have the strong skills about patience in teaching when the students when they do not understand the lesson. Under the theory ‘Big Five’ in Trait Theories of Leadership, the traits that giving strong support to the lecturer are extraversion. Sometimes, the information that the lecturer know maybe are not the latest. When students correct the error on the lecturer, that lecturer should willing accept the correction or they may find out the true information with students together to check whether who is the one correct. Through this action, it not just only gains new knowledge for both parties and also boosts the relationship between lecturer and student. Hence, as a lecturer should have the traits of agreeableness which is like being around with people (students) to learn some new knowledge or information from them to correct own
