Leadership is the act of inspiring others to pursue the visions and ideas one sets forth within their agenda. The purpose is to have others follow the procedures, work ethics, beliefs, not to mention duplicate these processes. Trait theories of leadership is an important concept that will help determine the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. Trait theories of leadership are theories that consider personal qualities and characteristics that differentiate leaders from non-leaders. Included in these traits are the individual’s personality, social, physical or intellectual attributes that distinguish leaders from non-leaders. Personality, the combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual’s distinctive character, is one of the traits under the microscope this upcoming election. Neither candidate seems to have a great personality in the public’s eyes.
