The National Honor Society consists of a reputable group of students that are involved in many other activities and hold themselves to the utmost standards. It is an honor to be apart of a wonderful collection of students that give their all. As all members of the NHS will attest, this organization makes their four pillars well-known and expects all students to work towards bettering themselves in those areas. Scholarship, service, leadership, and character are the pillars that the NHS built themselves upon.
The National Honor Society organization functions as a symbol of excellence and brilliance of Egg Harbor Township High School. As a committed and goal-oriented individual with more energy than a billion watts, I know that being a member of your well-respected organization would allow me the opportunity to help my community, school, character development and scholastic abilities, and most notably, mutually benefit National Honor Society to the best of my ability. After high school, I plan to attain a degree in pre-medicine, as I have always had a rewinding image in my mind of becoming a doctor. I plan on going to medical school to advance in my studies, towards my career.
A leader is someone who leads a group through something and stands up for something that they believe in no matter what anybody else might think. They are passionate about what they are fighting for and passionate about passing on their vision to others around them. To me, being a leader means having leadership. Leadership is the action of leading a group of people or an organization. They have certain characteristics that makes them a leader whether it be a strong mind or good leadership skills.
A leader is someone who can possibly bring someone's attitude or mindset to greater standards. When you're a leader someone could possibly look up to you. By definition, Leadership is “the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation while operating to accomplish the mission and improving the organization.” Leadership to some is natural, to others strange and to some a scary or frightening thing. Some would say you are born with it and others say, your experiences make it, but we have found out over time that neither are entirely right or wrong. We have seen leaders of all shapes, sizes, types and styles come before us throughout time.
The National Honor Society is based off of four pillars; Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Scholarship is one of the most important pillars to me. Scholarship means not only doing well in school and getting good grades, but applying what I have learned and using it everyday. I know the importance of education and feel that I am a lifelong learner. I feel very fortunate to have been raised in a family where education is a priority.
Leadership is a term often mistaken for management, similar in nature but not all managers are natural born or taught leadership. (Boundless Management, Defining Leadership, n.d., p. para. 1). Leaders, develop vision and think long-term for the business or company as well as influence staff members to listen.
Being a leader is stepping up to the plate and being a positively influential person and creating a powerful imagine of yourself that draws people into you and the success you experience. Being a leader myself, I have influenced those younger than me to consistently work hard and never doubt themselves. If a person believes in themselves then there is little that can stop them from achieving their goals and dreams. I push people to commit to their best and perceive life as if there are constantly opportunities presenting themselves, that is the foundation of my judgement on the decision to further my education. I have impacted multiple people through putting together youth rallies and displaying to the eyes of those around me that through my
Leadership to me is the ability to take control of a team on a specific project and getting the team to work together as one to accomplish a common goal. To me
Warren Bennis once said “leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.” Leadership can be defined as the ability to influence others. Conventional wisdom defines leadership as the action of leading a group towards a common goal. The urban dictionary defines leadership as a great man or woman with certain traits that allow them to influence a group of followers. For a mission to be successfully accomplished is it important to have a strong leader.
There are many different views and perceptions on leadership and what it exactly means. This is because there are many different types of leaders and many different views on them. But the basic meaning of leadership is an individual who can select the right group of followers and influence them through their distinct gifts, abilities, skills and knowledge. A leader focuses on the follower and puts out a roadmap to the overall mission and vision; hereby the follower is influenced to willingly and enthusiastically in achieving the mission and vision. The leader achieves this influence by humbly delivering a visionary perception of the future in clear terms that resonates with the follower in terms of their believes and values.
Leadership is can mean different things to different people. To me, leadership is more than having a title and subordinates. Leadership is having the courage to make the right choices, engage others in a vision, and empower your subordinates with a shared purpose and to achieve positive impacts. Leadership can also be relational which means it takes teamwork, requires you to be able to work with others in various backgrounds and that may have difference perspectives. Leadership also requires continuous learning, discerned decision making, and savvy communication skills.
From my point of view , Leadership has more to it than I can possibly imagine. I define leadership as the art of enabling a group of people get to a specific destination. As a leader your main focus was to enable your followers lead theselves. As i think deeper i realise a person cannot choose to be a leader. I think a lot of the time people take on leadership positions without knowing.
Leadership is less about you and more about the needs of the people you lead. Today, leadership is everyone’s business. All of us play the role of being a leader in many ways. Webster's Dictionary defines leadership as "the power or ability to lead other people," but in today’s scenario, for most people, there's a lot more to it than just that. There are several ways of explaining or defining leadership.
Introduction Leadership is the art of empowering people around you to achieve a goal. As a leader I want to help others become leaders themselves. I firmly believe that by leading based on my values this will be accomplished. I have had many leadership influences throughout my career. Some of them showed me the way I wanted to someday lead and others showed me exactly how not to.
