Josie Monologue

Jayna took Josie on a quick trip to Earth that night via Jayna's bathtub. Josie met Jayna's children a boy named Lance, who was about Akemi's age, and a girl named Genny who was eight. Jayna's husband Henry was very gallant and understanding when Jayna told him, she'd be spending the next six days on Morpheus with Josie. Josie was amazed at the magic on Earth and wondered why the magic of the sword wouldn't work here. With only a word, light came and went out of little round orbs in the ceiling and on the walls. With no more than a touch, heat came from a flat surface in the kitchen that they used to cook food. A box in the kitchen was full of food and it was all kept cool and preserved from spoilage by the magic of the box. Water came out

I know it sounds crazy, but that's the way things work here. Anyway, they have their toys and conveniences, but it has its drawbacks as well. They have things that fly in the air, they're called drones, some of them act as eyes for the one controlling them, some of them have weapons that can kill a man in a blink of an eye. Without Raphael's interference they would have hunted us down and either locked us up or killed us. We wouldn't be able to hide from them on our own.”
“Them?”
“The ones who control this world, the ones who would like nothing better than to find a way to Morpheus and use it for their own purposes. Raphael, Jayna and I are trying to prevent that, as well as helping some people who have become targets to escape. It's complicated, I think the only one who really knows what's going on is Raphael and maybe Jayna a little. Anyway I've been here for twelve years and I don't understand much more than the day I arrived.” Henry gave her another smile. “Well I'm headed back to bed before Jayna comes looking for me.

Jayna took her to Missy's shop and they walked inside.
Missy said, “Josie! It's about time you came to visit me.”
“Hi Missy, I'm sorry, but I've been in training with a couple of friends.”
“Jayna's told me all about it, the sword maidens of Morpheus, very impressive title. Is that what you're going to wear when you're on sword maiden business?” The way Missy asked, Josie could tell her answer should be no.
“Well, we were hoping to get armor when we became at-arms.”
Missy asked, “What do you want to be at-arms for? Is there something wrong with being a sword maiden?”
“It's not that, it's just a name we made up when we were kids, there's really no such thing as the sword maidens of Morpheus.” Josie said.
“Isn't there?” Jayna asked.
Missy added, “There was no such thing as the Knights of Morpheus until they decided there was.”
“Yes, but that's different.” Josie responded.
