here are many different interpretations and views on Judaism and it’s rules on relationships. The idea that Judaism is an extremely close minded religion which fosters negative and unhealthy attitudes toward sexuality and relationships is true to an extent. Compared to other stricter religions, the laws that Judaism emphasize aren’t that harsh but they still are unreasonable to follow with the way society is today.
Jewish Law states that the act of sex is not shameful or sinful, but it also states that the desire comes from a place of evil impulse (Yetzer Hara) which seems like a contradiction. If the desire itself is evil how is a person supposed to be able to participate in sexual acts without committing and evil act? Based on Jewish law it seems virtually impossible. This proves that the statement, “Judaism fosters negative and unhealthy attitudes towards sexuality and relationships” is true because the point of Yetzer Hara makes it impossible for a person to indulge in sex without partaking in sort of evil action. Laws like this makes people have a negative connotation with sex. Jewish laws state that any type of sexual contact is forbidden because it will inevitably lead to sexual intercourse. Some people interpret tis rule in different ways but typically the way religious Jews follow this rule is by prohibiting any type of contact with the opposite sex unless you are married. This laws seems absolutely ridiculous in this day and age especially since sex is now viewed as a fun and casual thing between people from any sexual orientation and without the requirement of marriage. The idea that people are so uncivilized that one touch could equal sex, which is ridiculous and contributes to why people view Judaism as close minded
