It is difficult in today’s society for people to determine what is good in a biblical sense. Everything has multiple meanings and viewpoints; one of the most controversial issues is sex. Few people take into account the good that is in sex when it is seen from a biblical standpoint. Determining what is good within the topic of sex is difficult, it is also hard to apply the good that is found to an individual’s life. Many people struggle to understand the idea of sex having meaning and value and this is why few people think there are not any true good aspects to it. While sex is a natural part of life, it has been weaponized in order to conquer the materialistic world. No matter where a person turns sex is used to sell or influence something or someone. However, to a Christian, there is much good that comes from intimacy with another person. From a Christian’s beliefs, sex is a powerful and deep connection that binds two people together. It is an expression of love and faith two people feel towards each other, it can also be called the final step in completing their covenant to one another.
From a biblical standpoint, sex is seen as something given to humans by God. Author Rebecca DeYoung explains, “The ability to be sexually aroused and desire sexual pleasure is a natural part of God’s design for human beings” (p. 160). Many people when discussing the issue of sex believe that Christians focus on sexual sin too much. They claim that Christians overthink and overcomplicate the situation.
