Big Brother has an extensive dominating power. The doublethink phrase he uses demands love and submission at the same time. “Members of the society are expected to love Big Brother not only to follow the rules , but also to have a faith instilled in them for the leader of the corrupt system’’ (Mazur,2011). The warmth of name Big Brother gives people confidence and support, on the other side it’s an open threat for those who confront and disobey him. For the Party members he’s an inspiration, hope, while for the proles it remains simply a public figure. As in Oceania functions totalitarian system, the Big Brother gave Party members the authorization to do what they want. People used to spy each-other just to be correct in front of Big Brother. Big Brother was over everything existed in Oceania. The way how the poster arranged to intimidate the people and gain greatest respect possible of people, is very ironical.
