Brooklyn Hunt Mr. Ioannidis, 3rd Hr. English 10B 03 June 2024 Tragic Hero When reading The Tragedy of Julius Caesar it had a lot of good information on how it was in 100 BC - 44 BC. During the first couple of acts of Julius Caesar, you would think that Caesar was the tragic hero. But once you read the whole play, you could see that either Caesar or Brutus was the tragic hero. In the end, both of their tragic flaws led them to their death. Brutus and Caesar both had some very tragic flaws, and they did lead them to die. Brutus’ flaws played a bigger part then Caesar. But Brutus’ flaws had held him back from looking at the bigger picture, and he couldn’t see what problems it would lead to in the future. One of Brutus’ flaws was poor judgment. Brutus couldn’t tell who was friend or foe by himself. Cassius had suggested that they should also kill Antony when they killed Caesar because Antony was very loyal to Caesar. Brutus thought that Antony would do no harm to them if they showed Antony friendliness and compassion. Brutus had thought everyone was going to be on his side after he killed Caesar, the letters he got from Cinna he thought were from the people of Rome, the way the crowd reacted when they found out Caesar was killed would have made no sense if they wanted Caesar to be killed. “It must be by his death, and for my part I know no personal cause to spurn at him, But for the general. He would be crowned. How that might change his nature, there’s the question. It is the bright day that brings forth the adder And that craves walking.
