The first Roman calendar had 355 days in a year; however, a solar year has 365.25 days in a year. To solve this problem, Julius Caesar created the leap year, which added an extra day to the calendar every year. To adjust to the new calendar, Julius caesar had to get the months and seasons back in order; he did this by adding 90 days into a year and divided those 90 days into 3 months.
