Our Solar System is a vast and mysterious area that many haven’t gone before. Our Solar System includes eight distinct planets Earth, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Mars, Venus, Mercury, and Jupiter. All these planets have many unique characteristics that makes them who they are, but Jupiter is one of those planets that stood out the most. Jupiter is presently the fifth planet from the Sun and by far is the largest mass object in the solar system out of all the other planets. This gas giant is twice the size of all the other planets combined. From our own perspective Jupiter is the fourth brightest object that we can see from earth after the Sun, the Moon, and Venus. Since these elements are also present in many stars and our sun it led to many questioning why Jupiter is not classified as a sun or a star but instead a planet? The most simply answer to these question is that Jupiter is not large enough to be considered as a sun or a star. For Jupiter to be considered as a sun or a star it would’ve 60 more times larger than it already is to be able to garner enough gravitational pull to initiate a nuclear fusion. On the surface of Jupiter you would be able to find ammonia, water, and methane mixed together. Underneath this layer of gases would be a layer of liquid nitrogen and right below that would be a mixture of bother liquid and metallic hydrogen.
