In this study it talks about the number of juveniles tried as sex offenders being risen over past years and juveniles committing 20-33% of all sexual offense. As the numbers have gone up most of criminal justice field attention has been more focused to better understand, monitor and treat juveniles. Most information about juvenile sex offenders are based on juveniles who have been tried for their crimes and from research organized with adult sex offenders. The purpose of this study is to understand the motives of juveniles adjudicated as sex offenders. There has been result that are quietly understood and limited. Generally, many sexual crimes committed by juveniles have gone unreported and in some cases those that are reported are not prosecuted or prosecuted as sex offences as results of plea bargain. There has been several studies on adult sex offenders that are relevant to todays studies. There has been a large portion of adult offenders who report sex offending behaviors that began in adolescence. When adult offenders undergo polygraph, that is typically administered as part of their treatment programs, offenders will admit to offending against victims who they have not yet been identified. As for individuals we want to know how people react, why they act the way they do. Groups, we want to learn characteristics, behaviors of groups of people. Organizations, we want to know the characteristics of a formal organization and social artifacts we want to study objects that people produce. This general unit of this study are individuals because we want to examine when juvenile sex offenders disclose offending behaviors throughout a treatment program that includes polygraph testing and the specific unit of analysis is juvenile sex
