Katherine’s Story By: Kendal Engel Katherine is a sweet, brave girl who loves playing soccer and being outside. At soccer practice she started to feel very ill with a headache and a stomach ache. Her mother took her back home and she started to vomit uncontrollably.
“Honey it’s all fine you probably just have the stomach virus that is going around,” declared mom.
“Are you sure mom?” questioned Katherine, “I feel really bad.”

Many facts like, “It is estimated that 16,700 adults will die from primary, cancerous brain, and CNS tumors this year” (“Brain Tumor: Statistics”).
Also the fact, “The prognosis (chance of recovery) depends on many factors including, age, tumor size, tumor type, and where the tumor is in the CNS” (“Brain Cancer- Patient Version”)
Katherine had stayed at the hospital for a long 4 weeks until they decided to take out the brain tumor. The doctor told them many facts such as, “Primary brain tumors are classified by the type of cell or tissue, the tumor effects, and the location and grade of the tumor” (“Brain cancer information”) Katherine then went in for brain surgery for about 5 hours. Her mother and father outside scared and frightened of what was to come. Then she finally came out healthy and alive. “Oh Katherine we were so scared, I’m so happy you are better,” exclaimed Katherine’s father. Katherine and her family went back home for her to recover and get to be herself again.
